SERVICE & OUTREACH + ACTION & REFLECTION

SOAR is a youth-driven, Bahá’í-inspired initiative for young people ages 15 and up who are eager to contribute to the betterment of their communities and the world around them. Rooted in a vision that sees youth as protagonists of positive change, SOAR equips them with opportunities to create, serve, reflect, and collaborate meaningfully with their peers. Through service activities, meaningful conversations, creative expressions, and empowering gatherings, youth learn to work together, reflect deeply, and take action with purpose. Along the way, they build strong friendships, develop important life skills, and find a sense of direction, growing together, as they help create a more caring, united, and vibrant society.

Journey

THE SOAR JOURNEY

SOAR is a shared journey of purpose, where young people learn, explore new possibilities, and grow together. Whether producing uplifting media, engaging in community-building projects, exploring ideas that shape the material and spiritual life of society, or gathering for study, recreation, and reflection, SOAR provides a welcoming space where youth can discover their talents, strengthen their character, and work shoulder-to-shoulder in advancing the well-being of all. In every setting, this Initiative encourages young people not just to rise, but to soar!

The SOAR experience is shaped through four connected Pathways, each offering a different way to learn, serve, and grow:

  • SOAR Social Action

  • SOAR  Youth Discourse

  • SOAR Creative Studios

  • SOAR Empowerment Camp

Four Pathways

THE FOUR PATHWAYS OF COLLABORATION

These pathways are the heart of SOAR: a journey where youth discover what they’re capable of, grow their skills and character, take action with purpose, serve others with humility, and help uplift the world around them.

In this pathway, youth take part in hands-on service projects that address real needs in their communities. From sustainable initiatives that support food security and healthy living to intergenerational programs that uplift and support the elderly, life-skills workshops, virtues camps for children, and collaborations with like-minded youth organizations, these activities cultivate positive values and nurture a lifelong commitment to service.

As a space for open, meaningful conversations, this pathway, provides opportunities for youth to learn about hosting fireside chats, organize forums, write and publish articles, and produce the Voice of Penang Youth podcast. These platforms give young people the chance to explore important issues, share spiritual insights, and offer hopeful, solution-focused ideas with their peers and the wider community.

A creative space where youth learn how to share ideas that matter. In SOAR Creative Studios, participants explore media, storytelling, design, art, music, performance, and digital creation, building real skills while expressing what inspires them. Along the way, youth gain confidence in their voice and learn how to share meaningful messages with both their local community and the wider world.

Quarterly gatherings where youth come together to learn, reflect, explore ideas, and build real friendships. These camps create space to recharge, connect, and grow together, strengthening a shared sense of purpose and preparing youth to jump into the other SOAR pathways in a coherent spirit with confidence and joy.
